Crypto News

Kim Kardashian's crypto misadventure

Kim Kardashian was fined $1.26 million by the SEC on Monday for “unlawfully touting a crypto security,” according to the SEC. Kardashian was promoting the digital token EthereumMax to her 228 million followers at the time on Instagram without disclosing that she was paid $250,000 to advertise it. As part of the settlement, she has agreed to not promote any cryptocurrency for three years. The headlines focus on the media personality, but some speculate this settlement is just a brand awareness strategy for the SEC and a warning to influencers that promote digital assets.

Tech giant Meta announces that users can now share NFTs on Instagram and Facebook.

Meta announced on Thursday that NFT collectible support is available to Facebook and Instagram users in the U.S. This means that users in the U.S. and the 100 other countries with access to digital collectibles can now connect their wallets and share NFTs. The feature supports Ethereum, Polygon, and Flow.

Elon Musk confirms he is buying Twitter.

The Tesla CEO revived his $44 billion bid for the social media platform on Monday to avoid trial. Musk has been trying to back out of the deal since he originally placed the bid in April. He formally backed out in July, but Twitter filed a lawsuit to force him to move forward. The case was set for trial on October 17. Twitter shares rose 22% after the news. The billionaire’s favorite meme coin, Dogecoin (DOGE), also rose 8.63% on Tuesday.

A CryptoPunk NFT sells for $4.5 million dollars. In this economy?

Crypto whale seedphrase sold his rare CryptoPunk NFT for $4.45 million or 3,300 ETH to a buyer from Texas last Wednesday. Seedphrase bought the NFT two years ago for $71,400 or 150 ETH at the time and made over 6,100% gain from the sale. CryptoPunk NFT sales have yielded $2.4 billion in secondary trading volume.

Markets, wyd?

Bitcoin(BTC) is up 5.98%, and Ethereum (ETH) is up 3.48%. Bitcoin hit a high of $20,360.30 while Ethereum hit a high of $1,368.50. The rise in prices may be due to hopes that the U.S. federal reserve will pivot away from higher interest rates due to U.S. unemployment rates increasing.
